Snow Lizard planning solar-charged iPhone 4, 4S case

Accessory maker Snow Lizard Products are developing a waterproof, rugged iPhone 4/4S case that features a battery pack that is recharged by solar power. The company has opted to fund the project through Kickstarter, hoping that outdoor sports enthusiasts who would need a case that combined extra power and rugged endurance.
Called the
Aqua Tek S, the prototype features an outer shell made of polycarbonate with rubber grips, and features a top-loading lid to fully enclose the iPhone. The unit is said to be waterproof up to 20 feet and is designed to withstand shocks, drops and falls, yet leaves the camera, volume buttons, speakers and multi-touch display accessible. Snow Lizard is looking to raise $75,000 to fund manufacture.

The company will reward those pledging $100 or more with a case from the first run in their choice of signal orange, black and "urban camo." The finished Aqua Tek S is expected to retail for $130. Participants can pledge as little as $25 and up to $5,000 with varying levels of rewards. Pledgers at all levels will be among the first be able to order the Aqua Tek S case. Those pledging $1,000 will receive four Aqua Tek cases and two ski passes to Park City Mountain Resort or Deer Valley.
